Artistic-Cultural Project Atelier Paulino Astudillo

The art of painting and being happy is back: Paulino Astudillo’s Atelier

Since the distant days when the flag of Peru waved in the city, the mansion located at the central intersection of Vivar and Wilson has witnessed the unfolding of Iquique’s history. And for the past three decades, it has been home to an important group of budding painters: ‘This workshop had never stopped its work and had never applied for public funds to carry out its activities, but then the pandemic came and put us to the test,’ says Paulino Astudillo. Keeping the doors closed for a long time due to the health emergency caused a crisis that threatened its continuity. For this reason, the recent awarding of a project by the Regional Secretariat for Culture, the Arts, and Heritage has provided a new impetus to continue on.

Display of Artwork at Prat Square

Atelier, more than 30 years of art: A mark on the PAINTING and HERITAGE of our city. Despite the pandemic, the students of Paulino Astudillo’s Atelier held an interesting exhibition of their work.

“To commemorate this anniversary, we have taken the workshop to the streets so that people can appreciate the artistic talent present in Tarapacá, individuals who undergo training in painting and express all their feelings and emotions through color”, commented Paulino Astudillo during the presentation of the works that took place on June 6th in Plaza Prat, Iquique.
