The Municipal Corporation for Social Development of Pozo Almonte, CORMUDESPA, is a private, non-profit entity governed by the provisions contained in Decree with the Force of Law No. 1-3.063 of 1980 from the Ministry of the Interior, its subsequent amendments, and other relevant legal and regulatory provisions.

CORMUDESPA currently manages a total of 10 educational establishments, providing a wide range of educational offerings available in our national education system, thereby meeting the educational needs of the population. It operates 8 establishments in the Full School Day (Jornada Escolar Completa – JECD) mode. Similarly, it directly manages 5 healthcare establishments, all of which uphold the motto of the right to timely, acceptable, and affordable access to healthcare services for the community of Pozo Almonte and its surrounding areas. In light of the above, CORMUDESPA’s provision of education and healthcare services carries significant social responsibility, always striving to address the current needs of the municipality. POZO ALMONTE

Pozo Almonte is located more than 50 kilometers from the city of Iquique, in the heart of the Pampa del Tamarugal. It boasts various tourist attractions within its range of destinations. Must-visit sites include the former nitrate offices of Humberstone and Santa Laura, both declared National Monuments since 1970 and Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2005.

In this municipality, you can also visit the town of La Tirana, located 18 kilometers away. Every July 16th, thousands of pilgrims from all over the world pay tribute to the Virgin of Carmen in a colorful celebration rich in culture and tradition. The destination also offers relaxation experiences in the thermal baths located in the town of Mamiña, where natural pools have pleasant temperatures. Additionally, you can explore various pre-mountain villages and breathtaking natural landscapes such as salt flats, geoglyphs like those in Pintados, and the Pampa del Tamarugal National Reserve, which covers an area of 134,000 hectares.
